Connecting to the Library from Off Campus
Requesting an account
Students, faculty, & staff of Rush University Medical Center may access Library resources from off campus using a proxy account. This account allows access to most full-text journals, databases & electronic books that the Library subscribes to. A proxy account will not allow access to UpToDate, the Rush Intranet (IRIS), EPIC, & other clinical information.
Users must apply for an account after registering for Library privileges. The Rush proxy account requires a username & password; both are assigned by Information Services. Once IS has created the account, this information will be emailed to the user. This process usually takes business 5 days.
To apply for a proxy account, visit: http://www.lib.rush.edu/library/proxy.html
Please note that this form is only available to computers on site at Rush University. Off campus users may request an account by calling the Help Desk at (312) 942-4357.
Using your account
In order to use your proxy account, you must make configuration changes in your web browser. You can find instructions at this page: http://www.lib.rush.edu/library/proxyins.html
Once your configuration changes have been made, you will be prompted for your username & password. This will allow you access to Rush University Library’s online resources.
Some forms of pop-up blockers may prevent the proxy account from working properly. You may need to disable pop-up blockers to use the proxy. Some types of personal firewalls are known to interfere with the proxy connection. In order to use the proxy you may need to turn off your personal firewall.
For additional help with set up or troubleshooting, please contact the Help Desk at (312) 942-4357.
* Please note that your username & password are for browser configuration only. They will not work with individual databases or journals. *
If you need an Internet
Service Provider you can apply for a Rush Dial-Up account.
